Abstract:
»This article addresses the topic of violence in the Bible. Specifically, violence against women, against the backdrop of the case of incestuous sexual abuse of Amnon and Tamar, recorded in 2 Samuel 13. The study carries out exegetical research on some terms used for violence in the Old and New Testaments. , a more specific analysis and structuring of the narrative of 2 Samuel 13 and a bibliographical overview on violence in sacred texts. Finally, in light of what was evidenced and analyzed, it can be inferred from this text that violence is a subject present in the Bible, particularly in the Old Testament. It also emphasizes that biblical texts that contain language or terms that express violence must be studied with hermeneutical care, avoiding decontextualized interpretations or applications. Especially biblical texts that involve gender issues.«
